Candidate Dr. Kristin Lyerly for 8th Congressional District
You are invited!
Important Note: On Tuesday May 13, Governor Evers ordered a Special Election in CD 8. Consequently, on November 5, 2024 there will be two simultaneous elections affecting CD 8. One will be to elect a Representative to fill out the balance of Congressman Gallagher's term which expires on January 3, 2025; And one will be to elect a Representative for the term January 3, 2025 thru Jan 4, 2027.
Dr. Kristin Lyerly will be on BOTH BALLOTS.
The somewhat confusing consequence of the above is that there will be two elections for CD 8 at the same time. The winner of the Special Election will be our Representative thru the end of the "lame duck" session of congress when typically, a lot of legislative business is conducted. With the very slim Republican Majority in the House, the election of Dr. Kristin Lyerly in WI CD 8 could have major national and international implications. The winner of the General Election will be our Representative for the next two years.

Announces Overwhelming Grassroots Support and Key Endorsements
(Green Bay, WI) – After launching her campaign for Congress on April 4th, 2024, Dr. Kristin Lyerly has continued building significant momentum, meeting voters, hosting events, and barnstorming nearly every corner of the district in her bid to capture the open seat in Wisconsin’s 8th district. Dr. Lyerly’s campaign has generated grassroots support and engagement previously not seen in this district, surpassing over 10,000 individual contributions to the campaign since its launch just three weeks ago, and receiving acknowledgement from former GOP Congressman Reid Ribble, who said that a Democrat could win the district (link here).
“I am honored and humbled by the thousands of individuals who have pitched in to ensure the early success of our campaign to represent the people of Wisconsin’s 8th Congressional District. This level of support has surpassed anything we have seen in Northeast Wisconsin in years, clearly suggesting that the people of this region are ready for change, understand the opportunity in front of us, and most importantly, have a reason to hope.”
Northeastern Wisconsin is going to be a region to watch this November:
Fmr. Representative for Wisconsin’s 8th Congressional District, Steve Kagen, M.D.
Fmr. Wisconsin Lieutenant Governor Barbara Lawton
Green Bay Mayor Eric Genrich
Nurses for America
American College of OB/Gyns Political Action Committee
Fmr. Wisconsin State Representative Sheldon Wasserman, M.D.
Wisconsin State Senator Melissa Agard
Wisconsin State Senator Kelda Roys
Wisconsin State Representative Kristina Shelton
Wisconsin State Representative Lee Snodgrass
Wisconsin State Representative Francesca Hong
Wisconsin State Representative Lisa Subeck
Wisconsin State Representative Robin Vining
Wisconsin State Representative Jodi Emerson
“To say I am grateful for these endorsements is an understatement. The tireless work that these individuals and organizations have done for Wisconsin and the United States has inspired my work in advocacy and community building for many years. Their confidence in me as a candidate for Congress is something I do not take lightly, and I look forward to their continued support and guidance through November and beyond.”
Green Bay, WI - A prominent figure from the law enforcement community, Sheriff Dave Mahoney, today endorsed Dr. Kristin Lyerly for Congress in Wisconsin’s 8th district congressional race to replace former Rep. Mike Gallagher. Sheriff Mahoney, the former President of the National Sheriff’s Association, weighed in with his endorsement in the open-seat race that has continued to generate local and national interest favoring Dr. Lyerly.
"I am proud to endorse Dr. Kristin Lyerly for Congress because she has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to ensuring the health, safety, and security of our citizens," said Sheriff David Mahoney. "Dr. Lyerly understands the complexities of law enforcement and has a clear vision for addressing the critical issues facing our communities."
“I’m thrilled to have Sheriff Mahoney’s support,” said Dr. Lyerly. “I am committed to strengthening partnerships between law enforcement agencies and the communities they serve to ensure our families and communities continue building trust and strengthen existing partnerships. Nothing is more important than keeping our families and communities safe.”
Sheriff Mahoney highlighted Dr. Lyerly’s record of consensus building across groups and individuals that come from different backgrounds, stemming from her experience as a physician, and her ability to listen to her patients. He emphasized that this ability would make Dr. Lyerly a leader in Congress and would bring a solutions-based approach to the dysfunction in Washington.
About Dr. Kristin Lyerly:

Kristin is running for Congress to bring a pro-patient, pro-choice champion of women’s healthcare to DC and to advocate for Wisconsin’s working families.
From Kristin's Son, Abraham Lyerly: (April 29, 2024)
I’m Abraham Lyerly, Kristin’s oldest son – the one who was her campaign manager when she ran for state Assembly, so I’ve seen my mom in action plenty of times. It’s my birthday today, and what I really want is to see her elected to Congress to fight for the common values we hold dear – so I’m writing to ask you to pitch into her campaign.
Here's why:
I’m a public-school teacher in Racine, WI. Just as my mom sees the impact of restrictions on reproductive rights in her work every day as an OB/GYN, I see the impact of cuts on public education in my own schools. Some of my earliest memories of activism are of going with my mom to protests against Act 10 here in Wisconsin, when Scott Walker (who recently attacked my mom on Twitter!) effectively eliminated collective bargaining rights for a huge number of Wisconsin workers, including teachers.
Thanks to extreme, right-wing gerrymandering here in Wisconsin, Republicans have held on to power in the state legislature even as the state as a whole has voted differently. The dissonance between the Wisconsin where gerrymandering defines what policies the legislature passes, where an abortion ban from 1849 was in effect until my mom and others fought back, and the Wisconsin I know – where neighbors help neighbors and where we love our community and fight for it – is hard to balance at times.
That’s where my mom comes in. She’s never shied away from a fight. She’s also never been one to take on a fight without good reason – she weighs the facts and acts accordingly. And this race, fighting for our shared values, is a good reason.
So today, I'm hoping you'll help me celebrate my birthday by pitching in to elect Kristin Lyerly as the only pro-choice, pro-patient OB/GYN in Congress.
